I never said they would be super great this year...the Steelers are an elite NFL team...so of course the Browns can not compete now. However, in the next 18-24 months, the Browns will be more than the aging Steelers can handle.

True Grit isn't JUST a John Wayne movie. It WAS, because at that time you didn't make a western and NOT feature him in it. Jeff Bridges is the perfect actor to play a troubled, alcoholic, tortured character the likes of Rooster Cogburn. Also, the Cohen brothers haven't ever made a movie I didn't like, so I trust them.

1. Yes, whatever the Boston Celtics are doing, it's working! They are getting it done out there on the court. I'm looking forward to their game next month against San Antonio.
2. On the trade, eh, it was pretty stupid. I have been a fan of Rashard Lewis for years, but this year he has been putting up mediocre numbers. I could sense a trade coming up to make a change in the team, but definitely not what happened. Should have done a forward/forward trade, not forward/guard. But we shall see once they get a few games in with the new team and see how they do. I am also anxious to see how Turkoglu does, seeing that he performed well in his years with the Magic, but once traded to Phoenix, he hasn't been doing too well.
3 Finally, I agree with the Jeff Bridges comment. Some movies just do not need to be redone. A lot of movies are ruined that way, and it will be hard to pull off a John Wayne.

I'm pretty sure the Royals could have done better than what they got for Greinke, but since he had 15(?) teams on his No-Trade List, they were limited in their dealings with other teams. Overall, it's a solid return and too early to determine until the players develop (or not) for KC. [Minor edit, but it's Zack, not Zach.]

I feel like Mike Shanahan was on board with McNabb initially at least because of the type of QB that he is. As the season progressed, he's become frustrated with the team as a whole, and also that McNabb's legs don't churn like they used to. Mike Shanahan can really only base his career's successes on the successes of one other man. One Mr. John Elway, who for my money is the best QB ever to play the game. You refer to Santanna Moss not being a #1 WR in the game today, and that's correct. However, Rod Smith and Ed McCaffery weren't exactly household names either. It's a very similar setup to those Denver teams if you think about it. Sub par WR's that could perform with a top level QB, but the best position on the offense is the TE. Cooley/Sharpe. Now, if there's one think Mike Shanahan IS known for, it's turning 5th round draft pick RB's into MVP caliber runners. I think eventually, he can have that success if he sticks around long enough. My personal prediction though, is that Mike Shanahan and the top brass in Washington are pulling a "Danny Ainge". By that, I mean that they're all but fixing the rest of their season in order to secure a higher draft pick. I don't think they're going for Luck or Locker though. I can easily see them trading up in order to draft Cam Newton. Why? Because his game is much more similar to that of Elway. The way he uses his legs, he won't be a "running QB" in the NFL because they're just too big of a liability. However, he can stay on his feet and buy time like no other, and take off if need be. I foresee them trading up in the draft, and spending the money they don't have to pay McNabb after cutting him on the slew of WR's and RB's that will be free agents. Of course, none of this will matter if the looming lockout comes to be. This could be a very smart move on their part, but it's a shame that it's going down the way it is. McNabb is by no means a HoF QB, but he's not exactly Ryan Leaf either.

Rolee said exactly what I was thinking - the same media that Woods depended on to make him famous is the same media that is keeping his infidelities public news rather than private. It's kind of the price you pay by being in the media, however. If you're in the public eye and choose to be there, your personal life will be on focus.

The very media that help make him a billion is the same that is taking him down...What is even more interesting is all the people saying " I would never cheat or excuse it " but probably have done it at some point in there life but are not under the scope. Everyone reading this knows at least one guy that has cheated in a relationship. The facts are he cheated, many guys and girls do, he is paying for it, some people will like him less, most people will forget after next major win. Ask Kobe, winning cures all wrongs regardless if its right or not. True story

Totally agree. And while yes, I did lose some respect and don't believe there is EVER an excuse to cheat, I gained some for the truth. It is hard to man up to billions and say you were wrong, most of us can't even do that to a single person. And yes, what he did was wrong, and he's obviously paying for it at home. But, it also goes to show that we don't know what is goin on.

Norm, first an foremost, thanks for the read. As you can tell, this is an old article, as this is far from breaking news anymore, and I am sure you read that the story was posted on September 28th.

As a well educated commenter, and blog reader, I am also sure you took the time to read the prior post to this one, as well as the part two follow up.

My opinion on Tebow? Yeah, he is a good guy. He has no doubt set records are Florida, and will go down as one of the top quarterbacks to ever play the college game. No one can take that away from him.

However, look at the history of Gators superstars that flop in the NFL..Danny Wuerffel, Reidel Anthony, Jacquez Green, Elijiah Williams, Terry Jackson, Chad Jackson, Chris Leak, Chris Doering...all great in blue and orange...but what did they ever do at the next level?

UF has a history of having GREAT college football players, but marginal pros at best. Hopefully, this changes with the Urban Meyer era...but looking at the overall history of the program, it would lead one to believe that Tebow would flop like the rest.

I personally, hope he doesnt. I think he is a great role model for children, and we sure do know the NFL needs that...I just don't know if he will do it as a QB...maybe a safety or tight end.

Jump, I never did claim to play college football, however I did spend 9 years of my life playing the game. So yeah, I do have some background with it.

No one is raging other than you. You seem to be really upset for some reason. Sorry that my blog post about Tebow offended you and the "bromance" you may have for him.

Take the time to read the other posts on this page, without your "emotion" clouding your judgment and you will see that I don't think Tebow is a bad guy, I just don't think he will be a QB on the next level...and that is okay.

Hell, read this comment thread and you would have seen that.

When you post a comment on a page, you really should read ALL sides before acting in an overly emotional way. That shows insecurity.

SO, perhaps a lesson in grammar is needed:

Disdain:a feeling of contempt for someone or something regarded as unworthy or inferior
Distain:Middle English disteynen, from Anglo-French desteindre to take away the color of, from de- + teindre to dye, from Latin tingere to wet, dye

So no, I am not "taking color" away from Tebow, I am saying that MY OPINION is that he will not make it in the NFL as a QB.
